What is Blackline?
Blackline is a premium insulating glass and the optimum solution for warm edge – the innovative sealant makes the difference!
With blackline the conventional spacer made of aluminium or steel (see fig. 1) is replaced by the innovative sealant Ködispace (see fig. 2).
This sealant performs the function of both the spacer and the sealing. This “warm edge” means a significant improvement to the thermal insulation of the glass. The innovative sealant provides the blackline insulating glass not only with maximum energy efficiency but further benefits like long life span and unique aesthetics.
What is Warm Edge?
“Warm Edge” is synonymous with a thermally improved edge seal of insulating glass. Instead of conventional spacers made of aluminium or steel (good heat conductivity), materials are used which prevent thermal conduction to the outside.
This leads to increased energy efficiency and to a reduction of heating costs.
At the same time the risk of condensation at the inner edge of the window is reduced and thus harmful mould is prevented.
Elegant and Functional
Thermal Insulation par Excellence
The new EnEV (German Energy Saving Ordinance) demands the reduction of energy loss due to thermal bridges at the edge of the window. The main reasons for these thermal bridges are conventional spacer profiles made of aluminium, for example.
With the metal free warm edge system blackline, thermal losses are reduced to a minimum which results in best U-Values for the window. Hence blackline fulfills the highest demands regarding thermal insulation.
Long-Lasting - Sustainable - Functional
Compared to conventional IG the edge bond of blackline insulated glass with Ködispace remains elastic which results in considerably less stress on the bond and hence longer life span of the Insulated Glass.
Furthermore the use of only one material reduces the risk of incompatibility and thus of damage to the insulating glass. Blackline provides greatest safety over the whole life span.
K.O. for Condensation
The warm edge system reduces the formation of condensation at the inner edge of the window to a minimum. Therefore harmful mould formation is avoided. In terms of hygiene and comfort the benefit clearly lies with blackline.
A further benefit is the high level of automation in the production of blackline Insulating Glass, which ensures maximum consistency and quality. The high standard and the excellent system quality are ensured by permanent control of the quality criteria for material and processing as well as by the supervision according to EN 1279.
Living Comfort for highest Demands
Compared to metal spacers the flexible spacer offers unlimited shape possibilities. No matter if curved, round or angled windows, blackline is the optimum solution for all window shapes and sizes – and of the highest quality.
For sophisticated Architecture
Better, beautiful, black: simply blackline.
Blackline not only fulfills the highest demands regarding aesthetics and modern design but also in respect of energy efficiency and longevity. The matt black colour of the sealant creates a harmonious connection between glass and frame.
Benefits of Blackline
- Best U-Values
- Reduction of heating costs
- Contribution to climate protection by CO2 reduction
- Reduced formation of condensation and thus minimised risk of mould formation
- More living comfort
- Absolutely tight joint and completely enclosed edge seal for maximum gas tightness and best insulation values
- Optimum sealing barrier against moisture penetration
- Long term performance life
- The reflection of the window frame colour in the edge seal makes the spacer almost invisible
- Unlimited design possibilities and window shapes and sizes
- Can be used in combination with all other functions of the insulated glass, such as sound dampening, fire protection and Georgian bars
